Leica’s Christian Erhardt :: More on the Leica S2!
2 Comments Published by e sapwater June 30th, 2009 in Cameras/Capture DevicesToday, Imaging Insider had the pleasure of talking with Christian Erhardt, Vice President of Marketing at Leica. We discussed the forthcoming release of the fantastic S2 that debuted at Photokina 2008. Erhardt said that the S2 is definitely on track. Just last week Earhardt returned from Europe where he saw the first production models. Initially, these production units will be used for product testing. Erhardt also observed that Leica is finalizing the firmware in another step towards bringing the S2 to market. He said, “Everything is on time and looking good.“ Looking forward Erhardt added, “We expect that we will communicate pricing to the market in the last week of July. From then we will be clearer when the first camera will be brought to market.”
Imaging Insider views the S2 as one of the biggest camera launches this year. We’ve thought this ever since we held our first S2 at Cologne, Germany! Stay tuned and we plan to have more updates regarding the S2 in future posts!

I would appreciate if Leica stop producing odd colors eg tiatinium and safari or white in odd timing. I had already had a black and Ti DL 4 !!! Now I want a safari DL4 and am waiting for S2. Makes my decision to buy my first S2 very difficult. I will tend to wait for Leica’s decision on colors before I dash out to buy the initial model!
