[Wouter Brandsma contacted us and wrote: "Lightzone from Light Crafts, Inc. can open the RAW photographs too, but they will appear very dark until there will be full support for the camera." So, in addition to Olympus Master 2 and GraphicConverter we add Lightzone to the current list of software that can open the new Olympus E-P1 Raw files. Thank you Wouter Brandsma!]
Imaging Insider was in attendance at the Olympus Worldwide E-P1 Introduction Day in New York City on June 16, 2009. Olympus distributed a CD that contained Olympus Master 2 (v2.2) software that could also open Raw files taken with the E-P1. This new software version will also be bundled with the camera when it goes on sale in July 2009. Currently, Adobe Camera Raw will not recognize these E-P1 Raw files. However, we discovered that Lemke Soft GraphicConverter for Mac OS X will! GraphicConverter is shareware and cost $34.95. We have not tested the two programs side-by-side to see if one is better than the other. But, Insider wanted to let you know that at least there is one other option outside of Olympus Master 2…

Picasa 3.1.0 (free) is opening the E-P1 RAW’s I’ve downloaded so far, but default rendering is dark.
