The Megan F1 Team R26 is a two litre, 230bhp turbo, starting from around Dhs85,000. Both will sport an F1 plaque on their body.
Not known at the time but there was another collection of photographs of The Outlaws being taken in Detroit by a member of the new detroit chapter of the club. His name was Jim “Flash” Miteff. This collection has never been seen and has never been published. The first book of this collection will be out this year. The photographs were of a 4×5 format. There are approx. 500 pictures in this amazing collection. The feel of these photos are pure MAGIC. If you liked THE BIKERIDERS…you will LOVE this book!
Here’s a copy of a comment I posted on the Photoshop Disasters blog. Please read:
Hi there!
This is Chris Combs, photo editor at the Washington Post Express.
This is a Getty photo and I ran it verbatim. I don’t have time for Photoshop.
The one error to which our sports editor will likely admit is that it is credited to “Stuart Franklin/AP,” whereas it is “Stuart Franklin/Getty Images” that took the photo. Here is the picture on Getty’s site: http://tinyurl.com/4yds8u
You may also find it on editorial.gettyimages.com by searching for :

I can’t say that Stuart Franklin didn’t ‘chop the image, but Express didn’t touch it.
Just take a look at some of the great work people are doing with these cameras at Flickr…
some pretty accomplished amateurs are using L12s and the like. For me, I carry around an
old compact olympus so I’ll have a camera with me all the time, been looking for a new
Nikon compact instead but with no Raw, no purchase.
The most interesting aspect of all this information today
provided by Iran and the U. S. is that, obviously, Iran has
developed Stealth Missiles that U. S. Radar and Satellites
cannot detect. This is what Iran meant when they claim
“special capabilities” for this latest salvo of several
missiles that they test fired today, with “Israel” and “U.S.”
written on each nose cone in BOLD FACE CAPITAL LETTERS !!
I think it was good timing. The business of a stock agency is to let their clients know what images they have that pertains to new headlines. I like those guys. I’ve used their images in my productions and have always been happy with the service.
There are dozens of digital SLR cameras on the market today; however, there are few clear or consistent guides to which ones are the best quality and most reliable.
Well, Which Digital SLR Camera? has personally tested and evaluated these digital SLR cameras so to give you an easy and simple recommendation of which ones you should choose and which ones you should avoid.
The more I see of the D700, the more eager I am to own one. Maybe, after all this time, it is time to retire the D100. Or keep it as a security blanket backup!
“One of the masters using this technique was Gary Winogrand.”
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
As a former student of his, I can tell you that Garry Winogrand NEVER shot from the hip, and would not let any of his students do it either. In fact, he chastised me once for not bringing the camera up to my eye so I could check the framing–he scolded me right in the middle of Nassau Street in lower Manhattan! To this day, I always use my viewfinder.
And if you watch Garry carefully in the videos, he always checks the viewfinder, even if it’s just for a fraction of a second.
There’s nothing wrong with hip shots to give your creativity a jolt, but please don’t attribute this technique to someone who didn’t practice it.
We’re finding that many real estate photographers like using our TrekPod Go! product, which goes from a monopod to a tripod in seconds, and has a quick change ball head. It’s handy to throw in the back of your vehicle, and comes with a carry case.
Thanks for posting about this video, it’s nice to see some mainstream news on the power of photography. You find the coolest stuff, keep up the great work!
CNET tested a fault, early production unit that was hand-built. We apologized to CNET for the inconvenience of having received a faulty pre-production unit, but oddly they published their review before receiving a functional replacement, production unit. We are working with them at this time to rectify the issue of this very misleading review. As you can see for yourself, they very much liked the first generation Drobo. The second generation Drobo is very similar tot he first but more than twice as fast, quieter, and includes the additional FireWire 800 interface.
The Headplay Personal Cinema System sounds cool. I have been waiting for something like this though I am not sure if this technology has improved to make it work well.
According to the article, the incident did not occur in Beijing. It happened in Xinjiang, a rural part of China near the border with Pakistan and Afghanistan. This is a very volatile region of China that is very different from Beijing. 16 police officers were killed there by suspected Islamic separatists the day before the incident with the reporters.
I’d have to say “yes & no.” My “day job” has slowed down to the point that I can’t just go buy whatever gear I want right now. So, I’ve culled some of the stuff that was sitting around and not being used very much. Yes, some of it went to pay bills, but some of it also went toward new gear that really fills holes in my capabilities, rather than the latest, greatest shiny thing to catch my eye.
Before submitting a manuscript for publication,I have several questions: (1) What size type for text, 10 pt.; for long quotes, 9 pt.? (2) Should headers be included?; (3) Are galleys provided?;(4) Do you provide an ISBN (if not, I would provide one)? (5) New chapters on even page or page immediately following previous chapter? (6) Manuscript to be camera ready upon final submission?
well, I would be very interested in this. I have been asking the Canon folks to bring out a digital 7 for the longest. For those that do not remember, the 7 series was one of canon’s fine answers to the Leica.
I ouwl be happy with a AP-C cmos in an old OWL, fast accurate rangefinder, or a Hexar AF with Canon chip or the new Nikon chip.
The article itself is fine, but I was somewhat disappointed when I found out that chasing the link brought me to an article which had little to do with the title: “It’s a good time to trade your camera in”. Where is the info about trading in my camera?
I’m disapointed Canon still insists on providing second rate AF on their “amateur”
cameras. If AF on the 50D is no better than on the 40D, then I think Nikon’s D300 is going
to continue to steal sales from Canon. Nine AF points is OK, but better focus speed
and accuracy are a necessity for anyone who is serious about shooting sports or birds.
Could this be a generational shift? Here in Utah (wedding central, really) the photography market is saturated. But that doesn’t mean that energetic newcomers (inexperience and all) aren’t getting business. Photographers who want to book a lot of weddings will probably need to explore ways to offer something beyond just great photos. In order to stay competitive with people who don’t have to support a storefront/studio, the full-timers (and I have the advantage of not being one of them) will need to offer services that are spectacularly better than those of part-timers and newcomers. I just shot a wedding in California for a couple who had their engagement pictures done by a 19 year-old friend (since they only wanted to fly me out for the wedding), and frankly, I was really impressed by her work. I don’t blame couples for seeking inexpensive alternatives because the quality of amateurs and newcomers is really improving. Time for the full-time pros to get more creative.
No responses because nothing of substance was gained from reading the article. What I would have appreciated would have been details on the body specs, rather than another confirmed rumor. Thsi has been in the rumor mill for quite some time.
Well, this one certainly stood out to me. I can’t imagine being detained by security in China. Personally, it was enough to drive me crazy with the anti-photography culture I used to deal with in San Diego. Ugh!
This little video doesn’t address the things that also need to be done in the printer driver for successful printing (Turn off color management, set media type and printer resolution).
I love how the panographies play with opacity for an effect that differs from Hockney. However, after looking at a few that all had similar shapes/white borders, I began to wonder if anyone ever considered filling the whole screen. Perhaps on flickr? In any case, it looks fun.
You might look at http://www.everytrail.com, our website that is devoted to solving the problems Ryan encountered. It should be useful for many of you photographers with GPS.
A good move for Kodak. They are realising that film is now moving into the premium area where margins are good, if the product is excellent.
Digital may be popular, but with many players in the market, the margins are razor thin. The high volume small margin business is not sustainable long term, so this is a good balance
Face-detection is also available in global family social networking site MyHeritage. It is a very strong feature as the:
1) The Pictures completely integrate with user’s family tree.
2) They have a more ‘open’ concept, which allows you to import photos from other web properties (such as Picasa), and export the tags back.
3) The service is available in a multitude of other languages.
This would be an accomplishment beyond my abilities. The program is far too deep so I will assume by this they mean scratching the surface of the very most popular tools & filters to include Layers & Masks.
Ahhh, the Einstein vs Newton theories on how not to damage your equipment while traveling down the street or around The World. If only we could by-pass Stephen Hawking’s space-time theories to eliminate jet-lag and allow ourselves to be in three places at the same time (and to think I barely got through high school physics) :0)
Thanks for reading Flying With Fish and passing the information onto your readers.
Hmmm, there must be a low in the digital news frenzy…
Never fails: as soon as the froth subsides, another news piece
appears on “the death of this or that film”.
If there was any truth in it, film would have disappeared
15 years ago. Instead, new films come out every year!
Thanks for the info on the cleaning wands! Didn’t know you needed a wand. Do you think DSLR cameras are worth the price? Is the quality really that much greater than point and shoot? Maybe they are since they have products like cleaning wands… I found this site http://www.dslrcamerareviews.com that gives some info on them. Just trying to decide whether to buy a DSLR or point and shoot. Thanks for any advice. Thanks
“What a shame it is not compatible with the R-series lenses. Maybe I’ll just wait until my DMR packs up and then switch to Canon or Nikon. Great pity.”
So, uh, do you expect all new Nikons and Canons to work with lenses that they made 30 years ago? The R system was a film camera. Leica is doing something totally new now with digital, and it’s about damn time. Just keep using your $300 crappy R lenses on your $700 crappy R cameras.
I think HZ1 seems to be quite attractive.
It’s supporting optical 10x zoom and 720p HD resolution is wonderful.
HZ1 would be a good competition with Pentax.
Sorry, but it is not true that these new softwares are immediately availble for downloading. The long soughtafter PC version is not available, neither Mac 1.1. as of now, they have just uploaded a new manual for Mac.
Still, they they continue to discriminate PC users by not launching at the same time and one version behind the Mac version, i.e not all fuction will be available in the PC-version.
James Lehosit was a beautiful, talented, original soul. His death is a terrible loss to his family, friends and the art community. The family is continuing work towards publishing his book sometime after the first of the year, dedicated to him.
James touched so many lives in his unique, positive and optimistic way. He is sorely missed and he will never never be forgotten.

Although I appreciate and understand that this is a money making capability, the first thing that comes to mind is the horrible implications for the environment. I am regularly seeing messages that ask me to think twice before printing my emails, etc., so initiatives that promote the mass printing of everything in your MySpace page concern me.
Ansel Adams said, ‘I hope that my work will encourage self expression in others and stimulate the search for beauty and creative excitement in the great world around us.’ We should all aspire to his goals.
Just wondering how much better the next Canon 60X or whatever it might be called can do for the Amatures/Semi-Pro photographers can offer. I know this might be a secret as of now. Just wondering. I have a 20D now and am very happy with it. I am looking at the 50D but probably will get another lenses before purchasing the 50D. How much better can it get without it being a full frame camera?? Just wondering. thanx, Jim…..
Does this include
* Nonjournalistic commercial photographers and videographers (e.g., storm chasers, landscape photographers)?
* Recreational tourists stopping along highways to take photos?
Nothing I’ve seen yet is crystal clear on these interpretations.

Even though Madoff may be a bad guy, it is not up to the press to punish him, if it was done out of contempt. Additionally, I consider it very unprofessional behavior to push around your subject like that. Obviously this “reporter” must of felt he was above Madoff to bully him into a good frame. From what I can see it happened more than once in the video.
Than they start giving writers cameras to shoot stills of video for “minor assignments” creating what I have coined “reportogs” anyone who has ever had to take pictures and write an article at the same time will agree that it makes one of the 2 suffer in quality, and normally its the photos.
You have got to be kidding me. This lady has a wonderful story, to be sure, but she has been riding the gravy train for over 50 years. I can’t understand how she believes that she has some say in the matter. This is like having a guest stay at your house for a few months and then pitching a fit when you finally ask them to stop mooching off of you.
Wow, after enjoying rent-stabilized studio since 1947, she should
have the class and dignity to let the school expand and enjoy
the space for future generations.
This is why ‘rent control’ doesn’t work in the long run.
For heavens sakes progress is one thing but evicting a person
that age is totally unacceptable. The place looked tidy to me
with pictures she has created a museum of sorts there. Let
her stay. The place can be renovated and I’m sure she will go
for a few weeks to accomidate but why not leave her alone. Hang
in there! This younger generation has to couth!
What a pompous, self-righteous old crone. Does she have ANY idea as to how many people there are that would love to have had just one of the chances that she has had? And, to be offered the deal that she has been for life??? Good luck to her. Maybe she’ll let some of the little people that aren’t “part of history” to live with her in her grand manner. Disgusting.
Take the deal !!! Take the deal they are offering !!! Dont feel bad lots of people have gotten evicted and had nowhere to go.
They are going to make millions off of your space. They will front it as a school for now and in a few years…Kaching, caching !!! Yea Baby !!! They want to cash in at your expense/pain. Just like like ol ‘ Bush.
For Heaven’s sake, the woman is 96 – leave her alone to live out her life in peace. By the time all of the planning is ready to be acted upon, she’ll have gone on to her maker.
Seems like some people just like to cause trouble because they can.
She should be removed with force if neccesary. I do not think that they should even pay to relocate her or pay the rent difference. The rent controllers have had a close to free ride for way too long.
The thing that gets me the most is $5 million tax-payer dollars are going to this project so that they can make more money?!?!? I’m sorry, but that is a huge waste of our dollars! Let them foot the whole bill to renovate!
Yet another person that thinks the younger generation (that runs the world) actually gives a crap about the history she’s babbling about. Seriously, $650 for a studio above C. Hall? That’s a block away from f-ing Central Park. Pick her up, sit her across the street, and let her watch as a wrecking ball plows through her floor-to-ceiling window as the renovations start. Maybe she’ll come back down to earth.
you people are rididculous! the woman is 96. let her stay; it’s not like she is going to be a bother. i can understand living somewhere for that long and not wanting to leave! i don’t blame her.
Bottom line: Ms. Sherman does not own the property and needs to vacate. They are offering her a kind, considerate and generous offer. History is just that…history. The memories she has of her great times and great friends will go with her wherever she goes.
Note to those who plan on owning rentable property some day: This is the sort of “gratefulness” you can expect from your tenants, regardless of how fair you are or what you do. I can’t believe how many people who have commented here think she is being wronged. How? She’s been getting an amazing deal for over 50 years, and they are bending over backwards to help her get settled elsewhere. And yet she somehow thinks she’s been doing them a favor by being there all these years (”They can pay me $10 million. I’m part of history”). It’s insane.
I understand that she is 96, but the Hall is promising to keep her in the same neighborhood, pay her moving expenses, place her in an apartment that is as nice or better, is actually looking for new places for her, and is offering to pay the difference in her rent for the rest of her life. Could they possibly be doing more?
Editta Sherman was recruited to move into her apartment building 62 years ago from a solicitation ad in the New York Times before the owners or she ever knew what was to eventually become of the value of that real estate she was to occupy. I am sure Editta committed to her lease based on belief of the continuum of being able to afford the rent and work where she moved.
The laws in Real Estate have changed drastically from 1947 to more clearly inform tenants and landlords of their contractual agreement. There are such things in real estate as grandfather clauses and zoning restraints. Examples of the benefits of that would be “Long Island” that affords one with just a quick ride from Manhattan on the Long Island Rail Road the sweet pleasure of Long Island’s internationally well known Wine Vineyards, Equestrian Sports and Agriculture not to mention the spectacular Beaches that remain due to those wanting to preserve the experience for future generations.
Progress is important but preservation is key to availing the continue contribution of generations to afford to work, live and enjoy the community they have helped build.
Don’t you think Mrs. Sherman deserves the right to enjoy in the fruits of her labor in the community she helped build?
Printed using a pixma canon pro 9000 I leave them for 8 hours before framing. These are dye inks so photos should be protected under glass or in binder.
A lot of people may not be aware of this, they should often back up their images to their computer, and even back those files up – either to cd/dvd or to the internet, as computer hard drives are also known to die.
In response to the question “can your tongue actually get stuck to a cold metal pole?” Yes it can. The temperature was around 8 degrees fahrenheit (-12 C). My daughter was outside playing with her brother at the time. From the tree he was climbing he could hear her screaming. Went down to see what was wrong. Then came to the house and said his sister’s tongue was stuck to a metal pole. She was screaming was so loud we could hear her from inside the house. Her mother went running outside with a cup of warm water to release her. Three minutes later we were all inside. I asked how her tongue felt? She replied “sore”. I’m sure we’ll be laughing about it later in life. One of life’s lessons learned!!!
I have a Lexmark Printer Model X2580. I have an order ink message, however Circuit city is closing. I bought one at the CC store close to me, but I’m left with a printer I like and no ink. I checked with staples and they have all lLexmark ink refills, but not #2 and #3. Please inform me where I will be able to purchase my ink refills. Are all stores goint to carry this number as well or am I going to have to junk my printer and buy a new one. No one has any answers at any store I checked. I like this printer and it is easy to use and prints good pages.
My god! I don’t think I’ve ever really looked at Twiggy! Someone should have force-fed her a sammich! I like the David Frost (and other) naked in chair. Interesting set up for a series.
I applaud the federal government for passing this law. I have heard far too many horrific stories of people in the media experiencing accidents of their own because they weren’t wearing the proper safety gear. This will hopefully protect those in the media and the drivers on the road.
I was really hoping that the CMOS sensor would really improve shots taken at the higher ISO’s but your review reveals otherwise. I guess that’s OK since the SX 1 is not available in the US. It really pisses be off that Canon make that decision and I’m inclined to forget that Canon even exists. They should have done what you suggested by forgetting the SX 10 and just sell the
SX 1 but I guess us people in the US are too stupid to want such a camera or to poor due to the economy to pay that much extra for a camera. Thank-you.
thanks for pointing this out – but i think that the issue is with Adobe software and not with the canon 5D2 – your article title suggests it is a camera issue which it is not.
For us there was also PhotoMac as well as ImageReady. Yes, it seems all of them installed with flopppies! Were those the days or what? For more background be sure to check out Jeff Schewe’s really insightful article on the History of Photoshop — http://schewephoto.com/pei/index.html.
I have used the Blackrapid strap for the past six months and think it is a wonderful invention. JUST A WORD OF CAUTION THOUGH: I initially hand tightened the locking nut and while out on a shoot the nut managed to unthread itself and I got a real shock when I felt my camera falling. Fortunately I had my hand in close proximity and was able to catch it, which was a miracle in itself. I was shaken for the rest of the afternoon! Since then I have tightened the locking nut with a pair of pliers and it hasn’t budged.
A setup identical in appearance to the one pictured in this article is used in a CSI: Miami commercial that I saw last night before Big Bang Theory. I happened to pause the DVR at the point where the camera was fully visible with this gear. I’m not familiar enough with the Nikon lineup to know which body was used, but the flash gear was just like what is seen in this article’s photo.
Fantastic ! This is exactley what I have
been looking for !! Is this product
available to buy and if so where can
I purchase this from ? thank you for your
information and time it is appreciated.
great, thanks! as I know, Wondershare Software (http://www.phonexing.com/) released a series of Photography Apps for iPhone and iPod Touch, iCamera, iCard Pro, iCollage, etc.
Is “Epic Outback” a fly-it-yourself venture, or sit and look-out-the-window tour ? While the latter might be of interest for me and my wife, a fly-it-yourself option is more appealing.
My current FAA rating is Airplane, Commercial, single and multi-engine, VFR. My aircraft is the Lockwood Air Cam, a twin engine pusher ideal for aerial photography. I am not qualified for other multi’s, but would be comfortable with most general aviation piston singles.
It is always interesting to see these limited partnerships develop. It allows both companies to cross promote, and also works very well in favor of their advertising budgets.
Since we are seeing tough economic times for the near future, it is expected that more companies will eb forming these limited business alliances.
This thing ROCKS! Basically it has replaced my photo assistant. I come home from a wedding, throw 4 cards in, setup the software to rename them and back them up, hit “Enter” and walk away.
Why on earth do you keep messing with these things. How one can go dig up someones remains and do a peeping tom act in the name of science is criminal. How would you like for another society to come here and dig up Ole George or Abe.? The artifacts of Egypt has been stolen and are in western museums. Then we ostercise these nations, many who are Muslim, like they are demonic. No digging up and stealing mummys is a act of terror and should be punishable by whatever means possible.
Another company that offers similar photo products in the Milwaukee area is Apollo Photo Imagizing, which can also produce press-printed marketing materials for professional photographers looking for brochures, fliers, catalogs, business cards, etc.
This is an excellent example of niche marketing, as printing companies adapt to the changing needs of their client bases. In this example, Apollo continues to cater to professional photographers but also expanded its core services to include press-printed marketing materials. Everything centers around professional photographers and their needs, from digital prints to custom framing and marketing collateral.
I keep seeing this Kaplan photo all over the Web, and it is NOT Lincoln. This is not just an idle opinion on my part. I have spent 25 years studying facial feature analysis and identification, and the one thing I have learned — something the FBI teaches its own forensic teams — is that the ears do not lie! There are actually several discrepancies between the facial features of the two men, but the ears on Kaplan’s daguerreotype do not even come close to matching Lincoln’s, and ears do not change for any reason during a person’s life — not trauma, not accident, not anything else. Lincoln’s ears are placed at a more upright angle from the head, they are also set significantly and very noticeably higher above the jaw line, his lobes are far larger, and his intertragic arch (the opening just above the lobe) is set much higher.
I know people want Kaplan’s daguerreotype to be Lincoln, but it simply isn’t, and you can’t make it be Lincoln when one look at the ears alone will tell you it can’t be the same person. And I have not seen a single article indicating that Frechette or any other expert has ever taken the time to examine and compare the ears in these two images — a very major oversight.
If you want to see my very short article that shows photographic enlargments of the ears of these two men, you can read it at:
I have personally read this book, or at least I have started to. I purchased it Saturday ( 14th Feb ) and up to now page 141 I have found it to be a great resource. It’s not as easy to read as The Digital Photography Book” by Scott Kelby, but unlike Scotts book this does have far more information and goes beyond just taking Photographs.I would see that the user would have to already have a good working knowledge of Photoshop before being able to exploit this book to it’s full.

Its true, I am a member of SmugMug and I got the free strap. I ponder… what looks more professional, the Nikon strap to show off the camera, or the smugmug strap to promote the service i use to display my photos? The smugmug strap IS more cooshie!
The question isn’t whether Kodak lacks a strategy so much as whether it lacks the will to pursue a strategy. The company has for too long neglected or abandoned technologies and businesses because they could not deliver the reliable margins of photochemical products. The problem is more cultural than any specific CEO. at $3 per share, maybe they’ll figure out that they can take some risks on new technologies and markets. They’d better.
To Mike Sheras:
Please contact me as I have a negative of yours circa ‘77 from Wally McGalliard’s Color Lab. He has retired. We are returning all client negs.
Really like the technique, (wife from colorado really likes the technique)
Easy to practice, difficult to master.
Using low ISO, slow speeds, problem seems to be how much movement.
Do you have any starting point suggestions.
To be honest, I think a lot of companies are missing the real power of what the iphone can do. Many seem to just think that putting their website functionality on a phone.
How about an iphone app that records geographical information associated with the most popular pictures then alerts you when you walk past the area? That way you can have a go at taking your own photos of a cool and popular subject within the online community? That’s an application I would download.
Thanks for posting this. I am a Phoenix commercial photographer in Arizona and am always looking for new and improved ways to enhance my lighting techniques. I look forward to this webinar.
I can’t believe you are giving this moron links. He does not care at all about accuracy (and clearly says so on his website) He only spreads mis-information that hurts the whole industry.
This is an interesting read if you take for granted that this guy is strongly affiliated with at least one of these companies. Reading between the lines it doesn’t seem to be consistently accurate. My two bits.
The Alien Skin interview about Bokeh was really enjoyable. I’ve listened to it several times. I also listened to the Baily Bokeh podcast, too. I do, however, take exception with the pronunciation thing, not implying that either side is incorrect. Words have an unusual way of changing due to cultural differences and pronunciation inflections. Some Japanese have trouble with the letter “L”, for example. Since I’m of Asian decent and am married to a Jewish man with children born in the United States think of all the “what did you say?” statements that exist in this house. It can go from hilarious to testy. And, when I recognize that Terence Tay is a native of Singapore that becomes even more credible.
I like the way you post your articles. You ought to write more so that you can share more of your thoughts with your readers. Keep it up. Write more on this post please.
The Deep Web presents several challenges for a company like Google. Deep Web content has contextual relevance that isn’t really translated in a crawl and index approach. Kosmix is listed as “deep web” provider but don’t access to the deep web.
This change really upsets me. If I could take all my pictures off Kodak, I would. But I don’t have the full files for some of my older pictures anymore, so I guess I’m stuck. I guess Kodak can count on the minimum purchase from me, but I’m definitely not going to be spending a penny more than I have to with them! They’ll be losing a lot in customer goodwill on this one.
I just bought the Phottix Plato and the instructions are very brief. Your video was great! A picture is worth a thousand words—I give your video five stars. The Plato works for me because I need to use overseas a lot. This wireless controller is very small and lightweight. AAA batteries are readily available—couldn’t ask for a better product and mucho cheaper than something from Nikon. Let’s see how reliable it is now.
I have a KODAK 6MP DCS460 which first appeared in 1995. It is a 1.3 crop factor, as I recall. That was a huge sensor for that time, when consumer cameras of 0.3mp were top of the line. Of course the $28,000 MSRP limited its appeal to research institutions and companies with deep pockets. The price dropped, of course very rapidly to about $5,000. Kodak held a fire sale to move out the last of the inventory in about 2001 for $2,000.
The camera still works well, I took some photos with it yesterday. At ISO 80, it is not a speed demon, and it takes a bit of work in post processing to correct the colors, but you do get a very good image.
I’d love to have bought one of these cameras for a project that I’m just about to embark on. I was hoping that it would have been more competitively priced but there is no way I can justify spending this much on a film camera. It’s obviously targeted at the camera collector market and not a working professional after a decent film camera. Shame as it would have been ideal. I’ll be using a second hand 4×5 press camera hand held instead.
For those of you who haven’t tried Sketch, yet, do yourself a favour and download the trial. It provides a brilliant extra dimension to the standard Photoshop plugins, and you’ll find yourself using it on more and more projects… We find that it’s great on photos that aren’t quite ‘right’ and need a ‘certain something extra’…
Rather oppressive! According to the rules stated on the London Underground website, *everyone* must get a permit before filming or taking photographs on the Tube. I see no exception. Thus, it seems that even snapshots by tourists with pocket cameras are prohibited unless each tourist has applied in writing for a permit, the LU has granted the permit and the tourist has paid £30 (about US$44) for the least-expensive permit before he or she starts snapping – regardless whether the tourist is taking photos of the station itself, a train or just his or her spouse.
“This guide should tell you everything you need to know about filming or taking photos on the Tube…
“Any individual or film production company wanting to film or take photographs on the Tube must seek prior permission from the London Underground (LU) Film Office.

I called Canon today – they have no idea who digidirect is – nor camerapro – they said they would NOT warranty a camera body bought from them and yet you are promoting them as being supplier directly by canon aust ??? maybe you should check your facts -
Maybe it’s time for me to upgrade to a newer model. I have an Arca Swiss Basic model B that I’ve been shooting with for donkey’s years. Swiss precision was prevalent even when my camera was made.
I congratulate Arca Swiss on continuing their fine tradition.

Jeff Miller is, in my opinion, the best lenticular technology expert in the field. This will be an excellent experience for those luck enough to attend.
I grew up in Harrisonburg, Virginia. My family and I bought all our cameras and processed all of our film at Gitchells from 1948 until 1982. (about 10,000 images or so) Great people, great hometown service, and I still own many of the cameras purchased there by my family. The Gitchell’s Studio in Charlottesville, Virginia still carries the Gitchell’s name, but is owned now by another family.
Geotagging photos has become very popular and can provide personal intelligence to individuals about their adventures, work and social logs. In addition to using a high-end camera, users may want to check out myGeoDiary, a free service from Abaq.us, which has direct API integration with Flickr, so registered users can share their tracks from their devices, then authorize the service to upload photos to Flickr. Once authorized, all photographs are geo-tagged by myGeoDiary and then published to Flickr.
If Polaroid hadn’t fought so hard to keep Kodak and Fuji out of the instant film business then we’d probably still have some choices. But they did, tooth and nail, and now instant film will die with them.
Fake fake faaaake.
If somebody was to make a 24k gold camera they would at least etch the shutter speeds into the dial and I severely doubt that It would have a gold coated lens… Look at every gold camera/lens set ever produced by Leica, hasselblad, pentax etc etc.
Its a very impressive paint job – clean as a whistle in fact – but I think it’s just that -paint.
I must agree that an emotional and mental damage deserves a huge penalty on the part of the photographer. One must always deliver what he promises to deliver.
It looks intriguing, although I did like that blue finish they offered in the US on the G1. I have read a lot of interesting analysis at hv20.com and elsewhere and have been waiting for this hybrid….my concern however is with the sensor size and crop factor for lenses at 2X. Yeah, the kit comes with a 14-140, but that works like a 28-280 right in terms of effective focal length?
I also wonder how shallow a depth of field we could get with an F/4-5.6 lens when you get out to 50mm and beyond.
Besides that it does look awesome.
Hi,
I’d like to buy this grip but don’t now were. Hopefully somewhere in the Netherlands. Searching the internet will not help. If anyone knows, let me know it too. Many thanks.

I fail to understand why someone puts a so called video “tutorial” out that goes SO fast and with no audio telling the viewer the steps. Its NOT a tutorial, its just them showing off that they can do it. I watch TUTORIALS to learn, not to watch someones talent going to waste by NOT actually teaching.
Hello. We’re open to any discussion about imaging or photography or any aspect thereof. Open talk is welcome as long as it is not vindictive, slanderous, or unwarranted. Glad to have you with us.
I have had Kodak all in one printers for few years now but with numerous problems .When you call they act surprised like no one else is having these problems??????.I had the Kodak esp 3 bought at Walmart 2008 this printer was bought and exchanged thru Walmart at least 20 times because always had issues within 2-3 weeks after buying..your company was called each time numerous printer heads were sent out to resolve issue only to again have same issue few weeks later. Then in February 2009 the company had me sent to you for replacement and was upgraded to esp7-that was on 2/19/2009 two weeks later I called fro similar problem was sent new printer head, then called again on 4/11 was sent another printer head it still didn’t fix issue, then on 4/26 was told printer and printer head was bad in printer was messed up so was asked to return printer was sent another printer called 4/22 because they sent printer but no printhead now again on 5/13 called again was told printer needed replaced again..I told repersentive all of the above and was told someone would call me back today .I have invested in this printer and all the ink I’ve wasted so far cause everytime you call you run numerous test which use up color ink ect too..not to mention paper..
I wanted your printer because the ink cost is great, the photo quality is good and affortable to print but As I said before there is obviously major issue with these printers..This was confirmed when went to Staples, office Depot when I was told they no longer sell your printers because of so many returns(Walmart has actaully pulled all printers and inks off shelves in 2008 recall due to quality control issues-week later back on shelve with orange sticker but when exchanged for this one printer head failed again within few weeks)I was in Walmart yesterday and again they have no inks on shelves and only one old printer esp3 on shelve.. Will inks still be available locally if stores quit selling these printers..???
I once again have printer we can’t use! I have two kids in school highschool, college and we can’t be without printer needed for homework ect..so I will again need to go buy replacement printer until this is resolved each time I lose $30 on cheap printer bought till I receive replacement printer again from the company .You would think after sending out numeorus printers and printheads they’d relize maybe there is a issue with printers. As was same with esp3,now esp7 not sure if esp9 has same issues I understand this is newest all in one they have??
Hugh was always at the right place at the right time. His coverage of world events was world class. We will all miss his keen eye and his marvelous results.
Tutorials like these are total bs and waste of bandwidth. Come on! Everyone who’se ever touched Photoshop discovers this stupid trick by themselves without silly “tutorials” like this one. Get a life! If you can’t come up with anything more clever please don’t waste your time or mine.

Most people who buy the Flip UltraHD Camcorder make the same mistake, and you can avoid this mistake if you really want a Flip UltraHD Camcorder.
The mistake is…………….
You are probably paying too much for the Flip UltraHD Camcorder.
Most sellers won’t tell you about where to find the best and lowest price for a Flip UltraHD Camcorder.
And the reason is simple. The more you pay for a Flip UltraHD Camcorder, the more profit the seller makes.
Simple, right?
You could spend several minutes or even hours online searching for the best price for aFlip UltraHD Camcorder, or……….
It would be nice if the GX-30 featured a 3″ AMOLED screen instead of Pentax’s LCD.
Samsung is using a 3″ AMOLED on the WB100 compact and it would be great on an SLR.
Its a great bit of kit. To date we have shot 4 viral pitches on them. For the cost you just cant fault it. It does allot stuff that HD kit costing 1K upwards can and its perfect for the viral feel.

There is no need to be so absolute about this, especially with high MP full frame camera like the 5D II. In fact, unless you believe that the 3:2 ratio format is always the best for every photograph you shoot you’ll actually often PLAN to crop the image in post for a more ideal format.
Sure, there is a point of view that says that the game of shooting to avoid a crop is always a Good Thing, and there are advantages to thinking carefully about your composition at the time of exposure. But there are also quite legitimate reasons to crop in many situations.
Citing David Brooks in this article:
“… So the bottom line is, if you want to get the kind of Kodachrome images Paul Simon sang about, if you want your scanned images to reproduce that famous Kodachrome look, then take this advice: profile your scanner with the new LaserSoft Kodachrome IT-8 reference.”
But here is linked to the B&H target ? Should link to the Lasersoft target !
For the photographers who want to print at home, there is currently a huge void in the HP Photosmart printer offerings. This refers to what is offered for larger prints over 8.5×11 inches. The 8550 Photosmart is currently the entry level printer offering up to 13×19 inch prints and reviews indicate it’s an average performer for color image quality. For monochrome or black and white prints, color tints occur in areas of different tonality. Personally I do a lot of b&w prints and this would not be acceptable. For unknown reasons the 8750 Photosmart was discontinued and provided excellent b&w prints. The new Pro Photosmart series 8850 and 9180 gets even worse reviews for hardware and software issues. Poor paper handling, clogged ink print heads are only the beginning of complaints. We desperately need a 8750 Photosmart replacement for the large 13×19 inch print size.
Too bad there aren’t any brave american human rights defenders left in the world, who would just release the damn torture pictures, no matter how wants to hide them.
That way all this hiding and embarrassment would be over. We all know there’s pictures of americans raping little children in there in front of their mothers. We all know there’s pictures of torture via genital slashing of prisoners. These pictures will come out eventually anyway.
Shame on Flickr, Yahoo and Obama for trying to hide human rights abuses. This kind of action brings only further shame on USA. Someone out there: Publish the pictures and get a pulitzer and a nobel peace price! Become a REAL american human rights champion and show the world what america is really about!
It wasn’t that long ago when regular digital point and shoot cameras has 4 or 5 megapixels of resolution. Even today it’s not uncommon to see cameras with 10mp. But, the camera phone market is turning up the head. Samsung has announced the Pixon12 packing 12 megapixels. Would you be worried if you were a digital camera manufacturer?
We’re very excited that Lightroom and Nik Software are so compatible. We have been using Silver Efex Pro since it was launched last year and it has radically improved our workflow here at the lab. We have also been using Dfine and Sharpener and found these products to provide us the cleanest files for our true B&W photographic output.
We have just started to work with Lightroom and excited to be offering new solutions for photographers who have been looking for better output options for their black and white prints. Now that Nik has made this workflow so easy, photographers will be able to produce better digiatl files without all the time and effort that Photoshop requires.
Where do you read bad reviews of the B9180/B8850 family? They’re praised as best all performers, specially in b&w, by pros and by numerous reviews in the internet…

Not so different from what’s happening in Iran. I would suggest the British government clean up their own rights violating behavior before expressing condemnation of Iran’s blatant acts.
Our last printer was a Canon and I was extremely pleased with it, so we bought another one when it died. Although it prints well, the rollers already squeak (after 4 months) when forwarding paper through the printer and that’s annoying. But the biggest problem with the printer is the cartridges. Unlike my last printer, these cartridges CANNOT BE REFILLED! When we ran out of ink while printing my son’s school project, I ran down to our local “Cartridge World” to refill the color cartridges and got a big “NO” we can’t do that. Apparently, Canon refuses to make a “chip resetter” for this cartridge. Once used, it is USELESS. Even Canon does not recycle them to reuse them. Unlike Canon’s own “ECOSENSE” recycling program, these cartridges to have no sense designed into them whatsoever. They are difficult to find (target and walmart did not carry all of them, and Staples was out when I needed them). We had to order the cartridges online and print at school. I never would have bought this printer had I known of these problems. I’d give it a 1 out of 10 – really.
i love this new item. my problem is finding companies within the united states that sell them for a reasonable price. if you know of any us sites that are reasonable, please let me know.
I would appreciate if Leica stop producing odd colors eg tiatinium and safari or white in odd timing. I had already had a black and Ti DL 4 !!! Now I want a safari DL4 and am waiting for S2. Makes my decision to buy my first S2 very difficult. I will tend to wait for Leica’s decision on colors before I dash out to buy the initial model!

Oh! Pentax K7 vs Nikon D3… lovely
May i know who paste that blog… coz i also want
to compare pentax k-7 to canon 1D mk-III see if these camera lets see if this lame cameras((D3 and 1D mkII)) nefver feel shame
$5,000 versus $ 1,000 THOSE LAME FIVE THOUSAND DOESNT EVEN HAVE VIDEO,,, BITE ME…
I have had my D3 for a year also, well a little longer now. I bought mine in April, 2008. As far as I am concerned this is the finest SLR that Nikon ever made, and I have owned a few, including several film bodies. I also own a Canon DSLR, but my preference is the Nikon. I love the ergonomics, superb image quality and high ISO performance. The D3 just does its job, and does it fast. It doesn’t get in your way but is ready to respond to the softest touch. It is almost like it knows what you are thinking.
Matrix metering is tops in my book, as is the autofocusing. With a 24-70 f/2.8, the D3 is wonderful for general shooting. And attach an 80-400 VR or other long lens and you are ready for wildlife shooting. The features that I appreciate so much about the D3 are too many to summarize here. But anyone who uses the D3 any length of time at all is duly impressed. Nikon achieved another milestone with this camera. I am sure the D3x is also a very fine camera, but not one I need. The D3 is just the camera I have been waiting for. To say I am happy with my purchase is an understatement.
The photog shouldn’t have fired on the guys backswing but Ian shouldn’t be blaming the guy for his overall performance. Getting rattled like that by one photog also points to Ian’s lack of true professionalism.
I’m not feeling the low-priced love on the X-Rite color checker. Also, the Sandisk 4 GB SDHC is giving out stock quotes. Sandisk is up nicely today…. Hey, thanks for the deep discount offers and i will look at doing some bizness through them!
I just got my hands on this camera and was surprised how heavy it was. Great shot and loved the idea but my question to you INSIDER is did the battery over heat….I have a client that returned the E-30 because the battery over heated time and time again. She has since jumped ship to Nikon.
This is an excellent achievement from FujiFilm and I hope the technology catches on. If the price is not totally insane i’m going to try to get my hands on one of these!
Has a great look and feel.
One of the better 5D MKII videos because of the use of more than one camera and variety of lenses.
Does go out of focus from time to time so that must be one of the difficult things to control.

Hi,
and thanks for posting this on your site for us!!
You are absolutely correct, the D-SLR Cinematography seminar is relevant to any video capable D-SLR. Owners of 5D MkII, Nikon D300s or any video capable stills camera will benefit from this seminar from Philip & Dennis. Even photographers just thinking about upgrading to a ‘VSLR’ will find it very useful and informative.
There is also a free tour of the Guinness Storehouse Museum with a free pint of the world’s best Guinness included in the price.
Missed the mark again! Some nice features on the G11 (fewer pixels, flip screen) but why no HD video??? Even 720p would be good! Canon knows you need to have video these days. Seems like I am going to have to look toward the Olympus Pen series (but I want a viewfinder)
It seems that all of the hardware manufacturers are finally getting on board the SharePoint Scanning train. It is nice to see the industry as a whole has grasped the way in which the application is taking the industry by storm.
This is one of the most awaited cameras any serious photographer could hope for. It seems that it is the Minilux successor which was a huge success and which boasted an outstanding summarit 40mm in the days of film comparable in image quality to the still produced 50mm f2 summicron M.
It looks light and bears the M design fingerprint with its rounded edges.
I have been working with the M8 since its debut and a camera with a sensor a little bit smaller in size and equipped with a dedicated lens and the most recent technology must be something to wait for and surely to have as an everyday camera and as a backup.
Keep on the good work Leica. I hope you are on apple’s footsteps which rose from a dying dinosaur to sweep all the computer market.
Constancy in quality and aesthetics should be rewarded somehow
I think the Leica guys stayed up all night tracking stuff And now that there seems to be legitimate info, there’s whining about the probability of a fixed lens on the X1. A fixed lens doesn’t bother me. I got feet
It looks like this sensor may just be APS C – from the brochure…
“The design of this elegant new compact member of the Leica camera family is
clearly reminiscent of the classic M cameras, but its beauty is more than skin
deep. It is equipped with a CMOS sensor equal in size to that of many DSLR cameras,
and it’s fitted with one of the very best Leica lenses, enabling it to stand on its
own even with the big boys in terms of image quality. As an optional alternative to
its impressive array of manual functions, it provides automatic features, such as
autofocus, making it a convenient companion for any discerning camera user.”
I’m waiting on the exact lens specs, but this is definitely going to be worth looking at on 9.9.09
I am on my third ESP7 and it is also a piece of junk. The first one kept telling me I had the wrong size paper. Sent it back. the second one would not copy or print after a short period of time. Sent it back. this is the third one and it will not print 4×6 photos and tells me I have the wrong size paper. I am using Kodak paper. I plan to send it back also.
I am traveling in Tokyo, and just played with this camera and the monitor at Bic Camera (one of the larger Tokyo Camera stores) and I find the camera and monitor just great! The video’s really do jump out at you, though the 8″ monitor is a little small. The system reminds me a little of the DIDIK 3D tv experimental tv systems of the late 1970’s which also used lenticular screens in front of monitors and a two lens configuration being recorded on a large format 1″ video tape of the time (www.didik.com/dtv.htm). The Fuji 3D camera is selling for list price here, which is about $1100 for the two together.
I love animals but I must ask after checking out the website contest details…so $2 out of the $12 go to a charity of choice u pick from the three they offer. 4 Guest judges select. But my question is….what sort of overhead is there when people are supplying the photos via email, and kodak donated some minimal equipment as prizes and PDN a free subscription? I would hope these judges are giving of their time since they are prolific and famous shooters in wildlife etc and I no doubt they want to help and give back.
seems like a great way to generate traffic for Kodak and PDN and why not $10 goes to the animals and $2 for expenses, if any?
I bought one of these on eBay. I have used it for a couple of trips of 2 to 3 hours. Nothing disastrously wrong, but I am confident of finding something better. The angle of the shoulder straps leaves it mainly making contact on the outer edge unless you have very round shoulders (nobody that I have ever met has such round shoulders). I will use it until I find something better and then it will probably just end up in a drawer.
This is a debate that is long-overdue. Personal feelings or experiences aside, I’m just glad that this issue is getting some serious, considered attention. Thank you for posting about it!
We are happy with Prismlab for winning this award. As sole representatitives of Prismlab in West Africa, we have always known that Prismlab products were as good as any top of the range in the market. Although Prismlab does not appear to believe in making so much commercial noise in order to push its products in the market, its superb dedication to breaking new grounds through research has ensured a good slice of the market for the company. We in Africa are dead sure that in the next couple of years, Prismlab products will become one of the best known names in the photo finish market in Africa and other continents, thanks to the Company’s uncompromising addiction to high quality.

Suprisingly some shots on the iPhone actually looked BETTER than the 7D! It may be difficult to tell given the video can not been seen in HD on my screen but I’m very impressed by the iPhone… not so impressed by the 7D. Thanks for the video and the song worked well!
I knew Don while he was a freelancer for PTN. He was a character and will be missed. The trip I took with him to photokina in 2008 was an experience and will be fondly remembered.
For as long as I can remember, once I saw the byline Don Sutherland I headed straight to his column.
He will be fondly remembered.

Here is the picture on Getty’s site:

Is it me or is “What the Duck” just not funny? Maybe I’m mistaken and it’s just an esoteric insiders joke that geeks hang in their cubicles.
it’s still a Nikon, not a Canon. Keep trying Nikon!
Unfortunatly.. that is not a tutorial. It’s just a commercial for their upcoming magazine..
Just take a look at some of the great work people are doing with these cameras at Flickr…

Thanks for the mention. There will be weekly marketing and business management topics and discussions helpful to photographers.
Thanks for posting about this video, it’s nice to see some mainstream news on the power of photography. You find the coolest stuff, keep up the great work!
I’d like to see lots of votes on this to gage the thinking out there. I personally can’t imagine not having Photoshop in my graphics toolbox.

Great find. I’ve been looking at something for my portfolio CD’s.

Haha, somehow I feel like both of these ducks
Before submitting a manuscript for publication,I have several questions: (1) What size type for text, 10 pt.; for long quotes, 9 pt.? (2) Should headers be included?; (3) Are galleys provided?;(4) Do you provide an ISBN (if not, I would provide one)? (5) New chapters on even page or page immediately following previous chapter? (6) Manuscript to be camera ready upon final submission?
I work for Leica USA. It’s true, it’s true, it’s true…… None of us at this office believed it at first, but trust me, it’s true.
well, I would be very interested in this.
Loved ‘Spring. Summer…’, we’re Kim Ki-Duk fans too.
The article itself is fine, but I was somewhat disappointed when I found out that chasing the link brought me to an article which had little to do with the title: “It’s a good time to trade your camera in”. Where is the info about trading in my camera?
Thanks for the thumbs up! Very flattering indeed.
Ok, could they get this to market any faster?? Does Georgia ring any bell? Scheesh-!
Thsi has been in the rumor mill for quite some time.
me want.
Thanks guys =).

Well, this one certainly stood out to me. I can’t imagine being detained by security in China. Personally, it was enough to drive me crazy with the anti-photography culture I used to deal with in San Diego. Ugh!
Nice work, a different photoshop technique
Hey, it was my pleasure letting you know about this one.

This little video doesn’t address the things that also need to be done in the printer driver for successful printing (Turn off color management, set media type and printer resolution).
Who the eff is John Nack?… That’s my picture.
As a matter of fact, I was shopping for new lenses earlier today. I think I’ll have to hold off a bit and try this one out. Thanks for the lead!
Like many other things, you get what you pay for. In photography, its often true here too. $300 for a day of shooting often lends to bad results.
I love how the panographies play with opacity for an effect that differs from Hockney. However, after looking at a few that all had similar shapes/white borders, I began to wonder if anyone ever considered filling the whole screen. Perhaps on flickr? In any case, it looks fun.
I hope Photrade is a success, it’ll only benefit us photographers
This should bring the soldiers hopes up a bit
You might look at http://www.everytrail.com, our website that is devoted to solving the problems Ryan encountered. It should be useful for many of you photographers with GPS.
Bravo, Kodak!
Glad you’re back in the game.
All very well to have some good film.
I wonder what sort of growth they see in the area?
If I was a shareholder, I’d be concerned about their business strategy.
I hope that the price will we aligned to the dslr market
Will it be coming out in 120 rolls ??
I’m surprised it took this long for photos such as this to emerge.
Mostly Nokia users take advantage of mobile video streaming but this has great business potential: http://www.myphillynetwork.com/content/mainstream-discovers-mobile-video-early-adopters-sell-their-nokias-en-masse
I’ve been looking to buy an M body, perhaps the M6. Do you know how much, USD, this could cost? Thanks

Haha, now that is a brilliant idea! I have to get me one of those.
Great idea. Keep up the good work. Photography is a visual medium and what can be more perfect that fotoTv.com !
Hmmm, there must be a low in the digital news frenzy…
Never fails: as soon as the froth subsides, another news piece
appears on “the death of this or that film”.
If there was any truth in it, film would have disappeared
15 years ago. Instead, new films come out every year!
I agree 100%.
LR 2.0 is indeed slow and extremely buggy. Take a look at the forums if you think that this statement is an exaggeration
Thanks
A CMOS chip can only do so much
What a shame it is not cmpatible with the R-series lenses. Maybe I’ll just wait until my DMR packs up and then switch to Canon or Nikon. Great pity.
Thanks for sharing this.
Still, they they continue to discriminate PC users by not launching at the same time and one version behind the Mac version, i.e not all fuction will be available in the PC-version.
how come they are shaking hands again ?
Id say this actually means that the AFi system is not working properly..

Although I appreciate and understand that this is a money making capability, the first thing that comes to mind is the horrible implications for the environment. I am regularly seeing messages that ask me to think twice before printing my emails, etc., so initiatives that promote the mass printing of everything in your MySpace page concern me.
My two cents…

Just wondering how much better the next Canon 60X or whatever it might be called can do for the Amatures/Semi-Pro photographers can offer. I know this might be a secret as of now. Just wondering. I have a 20D now and am very happy with it. I am looking at the 50D but probably will get another lenses before purchasing the 50D. How much better can it get without it being a full frame camera?? Just wondering. thanx, Jim…..

who cares. too bad he didn’t knock Madoff to the ground.

Editta Sherman wants $10 million to be evicted?
Disgusting.
Dear Editta;
Daisyriva – what relationship are you to Editta Sherman? You’ve posted this on every blog site I’ve looked at.
We have no personal association with Eddita Sherman. The story merely caught our attention.
Thanks for useful articles
Printed using a pixma canon pro 9000 I leave them for 8 hours before framing. These are dye inks so photos should be protected under glass or in binder.
Hi, all. Nice site…I really like your site ! Good job man.
it takes some really beautiful stills. It is so so nice.
A lot of people may not be aware of this, they should often back up their images to their computer, and even back those files up – either to cd/dvd or to the internet, as computer hard drives are also known to die.
Thanks this is cool stuff, will back
Thank you for mentioning my blog. I appreciate it.
This guy’s images are cool!

Wow, a really impressive new compact line from Panasonic. What a challenge for competitors!
Do I remember correctly that it had to be installed from floppy discs? Also does anybody remember what people used before Photoshop? Answer: Pixel Paint by Supermac

The link I sent is to Photoshop’s predecessor Pixel Paint by Supermac. Also didn’t Photoshop 1.0 have to be installed from floppy discs?
Mark

It’s very kind of you to link to my tutorial. I’m enjoying reading your site.

If you want to see my very short article that shows photographic enlargments of the ears of these two men, you can read it at:
http://www.joellesteele.com/ART-PHO-012.htm
The part about Lincoln is on the lower half of the page.

That’s weird! I used the same headline on my main blog last week.

This is a slow and LOUD printer. NOT happy with my purchase.

Keep it up. Write more on this post please.

nice article…. keep it up.
Of couse I’m with you and our mother earth in this. How hard can it be?
I just bought the Phottix Plato and the instructions are very brief. Your video was great! A picture is worth a thousand words—I give your video five stars. The Plato works for me because I need to use overseas a lot. This wireless controller is very small and lightweight. AAA batteries are readily available—couldn’t ask for a better product and mucho cheaper than something from Nikon. Let’s see how reliable it is now.
You shouldn’t take such announcements on April 1st seriously !!!
This is getting lots of coverage today
we covered it at planet5D.com this morning in some depth – with lots of additional information http://blog.planet5d.com/2009/03/first-canon-5d-mark-ii-feature-film/
engaget and gizmodo are covering as well (tho they don’t have as much info as we do (puffing up our chest))
Actually, it’s a controversial review of the E-30, not the E-620.
Thanks!
Not quite an EyeTap, but fun anyway…
Thanks for the trackback! You misspelled Kevin’s name – it’s “Kevin Jairaj”.
Thanks
Thanks for pointing out our mistake. We apologize to Kevin for this but thank him for his great work! All our best…Insider
See http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/5225.aspx, which says:
“This guide should tell you everything you need to know about filming or taking photos on the Tube…
“Any individual or film production company wanting to film or take photographs on the Tube must seek prior permission from the London Underground (LU) Film Office.
“There are three types of permit:
“Student or non-professional
“Two-hour
“Location
“All permit requests must be made in writing…”

I called Canon today – they have no idea who digidirect is – nor camerapro – they said they would NOT warranty a camera body bought from them and yet you are promoting them as being supplier directly by canon aust ??? maybe you should check your facts -
In a random check DigiDirect does appear to be a Canon dealer in Australia. But, in the end consumers should become with dealers prior to purchase.
Any paparazzi who gets his ass kicked has it coming. They are the lowest of the low, giving the rest of us a bad name. Go Woody!
I think you perhaps mean that annoying, offensive, abusive, idiot photographers may want to avoid Woody Harrelson…
Maybe it’s time for me to upgrade to a newer model. I have an Arca Swiss Basic model B that I’ve been shooting with for donkey’s years. Swiss precision was prevalent even when my camera was made.
I congratulate Arca Swiss on continuing their fine tradition.

Awesome, the advancements in lenticular printing have really come a long way. Hopefully people learn about the advantages of knowing how to do it.
Jeff Miller is, in my opinion, the best lenticular technology expert in the field. This will be an excellent experience for those luck enough to attend.
Even Ken Rockwell use this bag, glad to know that.

I love when the celebrities doesn’t shy to get naked.
Great piece of software if you need to nest/gang up multiple images. Nice sizing features for event photography as well. Thanks for the review.
hey,
that was cool! thanks
If Polaroid hadn’t fought so hard to keep Kodak and Fuji out of the instant film business then we’d probably still have some choices. But they did, tooth and nail, and now instant film will die with them.
Thanks for tutorial, 1 exemple is more than 1000 words
Fake fake faaaake.
If somebody was to make a 24k gold camera they would at least etch the shutter speeds into the dial and I severely doubt that It would have a gold coated lens… Look at every gold camera/lens set ever produced by Leica, hasselblad, pentax etc etc.
Its a very impressive paint job – clean as a whistle in fact – but I think it’s just that -paint.
Looks more like gold spray paint to me.
What is the selling price for each camera and where to buy?
Very well written post however, I would recommend that you turn the No Follow off in your comment section.
Keep up the good work.

Hey, thanks for the nod – always nice to find someone is reading things from even the no-names out there! LOL
That’s my brother’s band! He’s the drummer. Thanks for posting.

Carrie’s “DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS”!!!!! I SUPPORT HER 1000% !!!! Fuck Perez Hilton !!!
Just wanted to introduce myself, been a lurker on here for a while. Are there any subjects that we can’t talk about on here?
We will all miss his keen eye and his marvelous results.
photoshop was indeed used.

Dan
On the flip side there’s Arnold Newman, a notorious cropper.
Watch that James Natchwey documentary, and listen to what his master printer says about photographers and their notions about cropping.
The no crop rule might fly in the Journalism dept., but it would be scoffed at in the Art dept.

Hey, thanks for the referral – this makes two from Imaging Insider, quite flattering!
Become a REAL american human rights champion and show the world what america is really about!
e_sapwater: do you guys have copy edit?:
It wasn’t that long ago when regular digital point and shoot cameras has 4 or 5 megapixels of resolution. Even today it’s not uncommon to see cameras with 10mp. But, the camera phone market is turning up the head. Samsung has announced the Pixon12 packing 12 megapixels. Would you be worried if you were a digital camera manufacturer?
Realy nice! Looks like miniature Japan:)

I’m new here on the forum, found it by searching google. I look forward to chatting about various topics with all of you.
Lightzone can open the RAW photographs too, but they will appear very dark until there will be full support for the camera.
Thanks for mentioning, although it is Brandsma. And I wasn’t able to open the RAW files in Lightroom, but in Lightzone.
Cheers,
Wouter

Stupid question, but I’d love to hear what are the most unique materials or solutions that can be used with this device?

Thanks
Hi, the nikon d3x file is a coolpix 6000 file!
i love this new item. my problem is finding companies within the united states that sell them for a reasonable price. if you know of any us sites that are reasonable, please let me know.
compact digital camera, stylist, big megapixel, should have great picture
That’s another quality camera at affordable price. By the way, I like its light pinky color.
Picasa 3.1.0 (free) is opening the E-P1 RAW’s I’ve downloaded so far, but default rendering is dark.
P.S. My favorite is the bench with the well lit trees behind it.
Great visual impact.

To say I am happy with my purchase is an understatement.
that’s the damnedest cutest thing i’ve seen in ages .. thanks for sharing
It’s too bad the Olympus shot is out of focus.
it’s all so very sad.
The photog shouldn’t have fired on the guys backswing but Ian shouldn’t be blaming the guy for his overall performance. Getting rattled like that by one photog also points to Ian’s lack of true professionalism.
A nice blog containing full information of quality cartridges. Please see our website .. thanx for visiting this blog.
I’m not feeling the low-priced love on the X-Rite color checker. Also, the Sandisk 4 GB SDHC is giving out stock quotes. Sandisk is up nicely today…. Hey, thanks for the deep discount offers and i will look at doing some bizness through them!
Thanks for the information.
Ricehigh is a complete joke. You lose all credibility pointing to his blog. I bet you think Ken Rockwell is a reputable source too…
Amazed to see the D-Lux 4 jpg has better dynamic range than the E-P1! I wonder how the images would compare if you used the pancake lens?
BTW the css on comments could use some tuning… white text on light grey background is really hard to read

I just got my hands on this camera and was surprised how heavy it was. Great shot and loved the idea but my question to you INSIDER is did the battery over heat….I have a client that returned the E-30 because the battery over heated time and time again. She has since jumped ship to Nikon.
Would love to hear back from you.
Elmo: Wow! You really are the king of long exposures.
What is digital noise like in the full size image? (I really don’t want to download a file that large.)
Peter
This is an excellent achievement from FujiFilm and I hope the technology catches on. If the price is not totally insane i’m going to try to get my hands on one of these!
Actually, what I say is that I rarely use the word ’shoot’ when I mean ‘photograph’.
Thanks for trying, though.
Nice product photography tutorial. Thanks for sharing!
I have a user manual in french, but i prefer in inglish.

There is also a free tour of the Guinness Storehouse Museum with a free pint of the world’s best Guinness included in the price.
best regards
F-Stop Academy Dublin Team.
Hands down, I’d say the 5D wins in all categories.

You might try David Ziser at David@digitalprotalk.com. David is a very approachable source.
I think the Leica guys stayed up all night tracking stuff
And now that there seems to be legitimate info, there’s whining about the probability of a fixed lens on the X1.

Cliff wrote a great review about this lens.
As a curling fan, I love this viewpoint. I hope NBC will use your rock rider camera.
Thanks for the plug…before AND after!

Roy, oh, you’re right! What we posted was exactly word for word from the press release. But, we’ll make a note in the release now that you’ve caught this.
Thank you so very much.

Suprisingly some shots on the iPhone actually looked BETTER than the 7D! It may be difficult to tell given the video can not been seen in HD on my screen but I’m very impressed by the iPhone… not so impressed by the 7D. Thanks for the video and the song worked well!
The 7D has much better colours and contrast, but not too shabby for a phone!
It would have been a different story if the video where compared in the original resolution..
The link provided in your post has nothing to do with the camera on board the satellite.
The official website for the camera is http://www.mps.mpg.de/en/projekte/rosetta/osiris/

Shouldn’t be hard to find out.
Thank you, Matthew! We’ve updated the link due to your sharp eyes!

So what? They haven’t done anything useful with the one they developed 3 years ago:
“In 2007, the company successfully developed an APS-H-size sensor with approximately 50 million pixels.”
Where’s the camera wrapped around either sensor?
This sounds about right for Coca Cola, Such a shame as there classic colourc make for great photography
